"The Grill" - Gemma Dishon

Over the past few months our team has grown, with a number of new faces joining #TeamScran! We obviously think they are all awesome but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to "grill" them for your benefit!

This week we meet Gemma Dishon, Academy Programme Coordinator for Scran. Gemma can often be found covered in glitter and leads our community education programme!

What did you do before joining Scran?

"I was a Visiting Housing Support Worker for Edinburgh's Young People Service."

What attracted you to work for Scran Academy?

"Coming from North Edinburgh, I have seen first-hand the impact of the valuable work Scran does. I wanted to be part of that!"

What is your proudest accomplishment?

"Getting, keeping and having my home."

Who is your role model?

"Dolly Parton - big sparkle, big brains and a big heart."

What's your favorite scran?

"Macaroni Cheese."

Who's the most famous person you've met?

"Tim Minchin or James Cosmo."

Who was your favorite teacher in school and why?

"Mrs Clarke, Head of English. She made the school play about acting. They were always musicals and although I am not the best singer, she cast me in my first leading role."

What's your favorite way to spend a day off?

"Breakfast! Beach! Buddies!"

What's the best joke you've ever heard?

"Why is a Toblerone that shape? So it fits in the box!"
