Scran Appoints New Trustees
We’re pleased to share some exciting news, we’ve welcomed four new trustees to our board: Shaun Cumming, Samantha Paterson, Helen Mullin and Laura Bain.
Each brings a different perspective, alongside valuable experience across government, community volunteering, governance, risk, communications and marketing. Together, they bring a strong mix of skills and knowledge that will support Scran as we continue to develop and grow.
Most importantly, they share our commitment to creating opportunities for young people and helping them build confidence, develop new skills and realise their ambitions.

Shaun Cumming
Shaun has over 16 years’ experience in senior marketing leadership roles across organisations including BlackRock, BNY Mellon and Standard Life, specialising in growth, communications, brand and audience engagement. He is also a consultant, fractional CMO and social media creator, bringing expertise in growth strategy, digital audiences and emerging AI opportunities.
Samantha Paterson

Samantha is a Civil Servant with over 20 years’ experience across Scottish and UK Government, including delivering high-profile projects and working closely with Government Ministers. She has been involved with Scran Academy since its early days and brings experience from JCI Edinburgh, Positive Help and Befriending Networks.

Helen Mullin
Helen is an independent consultant, non-executive director, trustee and chartered accountant, specialising in governance, risk management and board effectiveness, particularly within the Third Sector. She has over 20 years’ experience in investment management and brings expertise to support Scran Academy’s governance and future growth.
Laura Bain

Laura is a communications and marketing professional with over a decade’s experience helping organisations engage stakeholders, build trust and deliver meaningful outcomes. She brings senior leadership experience across charities, non-profits and public bodies, with expertise in communications, marketing, digital strategy and strategic planning.
Looking ahead
Shaun, Samantha, Helen and Laura will play an important role in helping us shape the future direction of Scran Academy, while keeping our focus firmly on what matters most: creating opportunities for young people to gain experience, skills and confidence empowering them to reach their full potential.
As Scran continues to grow, their experience, insight and commitment will be valuable in supporting our work and our ambitions for the future.
