This is my first job and my first experience working, before I did a lot of volunteering working with horses. As I dropped out of school early but found I needed some stability, so I went to Barnardo’s. They were helping me try to find work and manage my money and finances. I earned a qualification in money management through them, but I was still struggling to find a job, so I decided to look for one on my own by talking to people I know. That’s how I heard about Scran through Tonii, who is now my colleague.

It’s a big change being at Scran, but it’s very nice being here. Because I’ve never worked before, I thought work would be miserable, but here it’s not. You get to do lots of different things, which I like. I help with food prep, make coffee and toast paninis, help with dishes, and do whatever is needed. I also do a lot of customer service.

Outside of work my real passion is horses and I have a share on a horse called Oscar, and I visit him every Monday. I do horse riding and have recently been practicing jumping with him. I also like art, especially realistic animal portraiture.
