Caitlin Samsworth

Youth Development Food Worker

I joined Scran as a Youth Development Food Worker. After completing an Anthropology degree, I worked in children and youth services, adult learning disability support, and with a desire to travel led voluntary projects with young people abroad in India and Uganda. Having always cooked from a young age, I changed career path and for the last 5 years have been professionally cheffing, including owning and running my own cafe in Cornwall, England, and working across Europe and South America as a chef.

At Scran, I support work in the Academy and lead the Clan programme, an outreach project in schools across Edinburgh. I also work collaboratively with Sowing Our Horizons, an enterprise supporting and investing in local food ecosystems. Passionate about food justice, I am committed to making good food accessible to everyone and combining my love of food with youth work to empower young people to gain skills and learn more about food and the world.

In my free time, I enjoy being active outdoors, cycling, swimming, and bringing people together over good food.
